Korean Air employee dies after fight with Seattle airport worker
July 10, 2014
A Korean Air employee’s fight over a piece of equipment with a cargo worker at Tacoma-Seattle International Airport led to his death Saturday.
According to county prosecutors, Jason Geum, 40, and cargo service contract worker Taumeileli Mapusua, 27, got into a dispute inside a cargo area.
Court documents allege that Geum fell and hit his head on concrete after Mapusua slapped him. Geum later died at Harborview Medical Center.
Mapusua faces a second-degree murder charge and is being held on a $1 million bail.
“Because the Korean Air employee was the victim, we’re currently watching the investigation,” a Korean Air spokesman in Seattle said.
Geum, an American citizen, left behind a wife and two children aged 6 and 4.
