Korean American alumni chapter opens at UC Irvine
By The Korea Times Orange County staff
An official Korean American alumni chapter has been launched at UC Irvine, with an opening ceremony planned for Dec. 5 inside the Newkirk Alumni Center.
Alexander Kim, a graduate of the class of 1995, will serve as its first president.
“There are a lot of Korean Americans out there who are working as leaders in their respective fields who hold pride in being Korean,” Kim said. “Through the chapter, we hope to bring their capabilities together to become a positive force in both the UC Irvine and the Korean American communities.”
The chapter is recognized by the university’s alumni association and will have its support in future events.
The chapter plans to invite inspirational alumni to speak to students as mentors.
