Korean American communities plan 113th immigration anniversary
A nationwide celebration by Korean American communities of the 113th anniversary of the first Korean immigrants’ arrival to the U.S. will begin next Jan. 11, the Korean American Foundation announced Monday.
On Jan. 13, 1903, 102 Koreans landed in Honolulu via the SS Gaelic.

“To make sure this is a celebration not just for first-generation immigrants but for all Koreans and non-Koreans, we are also preparing seminars on K-pop content,” said Kim Sung-woong, foundation president.
In Southern California, Los Angeles will be home to proclamation cermonies, while similar events will unfold in cities like Atlanta and Washington, D.C., according to the foundation.
