Korean American producer finds success in ‘Furious 7′ soundtrack
The “Furious 7″ soundtrack topped the Billboard 200 this week. A-Dee, a Korean American producer, is among those responsible for its success.
The 29-year-old produced “My Angel,” an album track sung by Prince Royce. It peaked at No. 48 on iTunes’ singles chart.
A-Dee said he is self-taught via YouTube videos when it comes to music production. In 2012, he arrived in Hollywood and began composing songs for television and commercials.
He said he would send weekly emails of two or three of his songs to DJ Frank E, his favorite composer, for two years. “My Angel” was among those songs.
A year ago, he was personally contacted by DJ Frank E, who liked what he heard and wanted to work with A-Dee.
A-Dee is a 1.5-generation Korean American who graduated with an accounting degree from the University of Maryland.
“Furious 7,” the seventh installment in the “Fast & Furious” franchise, has topped the U.S. box office since its release three weeks ago and is, according to the Associated Press, set to become Universal’s highest-grossing film ever.
