Korean American throws in name for city council in Fort Lee, NJ
October 8, 2015
Fort Lee, New Jersey, has a Korean American city council candidate in the running for the November general election.
Margaret Ahn, a Republican, has run a business and raised her children in the city for 15 years.
“Koreans make up 28 percent of the city’s population, but you could count on one hand the number of city employees who are Korean,” she said. “To properly reflect the voice of the Korean American community, which makes up a third of Fort Lee, we need someone who understands both Korean and American culture.”
Ahn is campaigning with mayoral candidate Eric Fisher and City Council candidate Jeffrey Valacer.
