Korean author to visit L.A. for new book launch
The author of the Korean best-selling novel “Please Look After Mother” will hold a public reading on June 16 at the Korean Cultural Center in Los Angeles.
The English edition of Shin Kyung-sook’s 2010 novel “I’ll Be Right There” was released Tuesday.
Chosen by the Huffington Post for its “30 Books You Need to Read in 2014” and lauded by the L.A. Times as “wonderfully stirring,” the novel has seen releases in Taiwan, China, Spain, Italy, Poland and Norway.
A coming-of-age love story set in 1980s and early 1990s Korea, the book was translated by Ehwa University professor Kim So-ra.
Shin will introduce the book, read an excerpt and hold a discussion with readers at the event.
