Korean children’s song singing contest coming to LA
A children’s song singing contest will be held at the Korean Education Center in Los Angeles on May 23.
Hosted by the Korea Times and overseen by the Children’s Song Association of America, the contest is in its 13th year and invites students kindergarten through 12th grade to participate.
Students compete by memorizing and singing one verse of a contest-chosen song and a song of their choice.
Contestants are divided by age groups of kindergarten, first to third grade, fourth to sixth grade and seventh to 12th grade.
The association said 37 teams participated last year.
“We want all children who like to sing to join,” said Moon Hye-won, association leader.
Association President Lee Hye-ja said three judges — two professional vocalists and one association musician — will determine winners.
Contestants may apply by April 30 via mail or email applications. For more information, call 213-300-7214.
