The Korea Economic Institute of America honored Simon Lee, chairman and CEO of STG, a leading mid-tier government contractor, as a leader in business and entrepreneurship, along with two others, Monday.

At the institute’s annual Korean American Day celebration, Michael Yang, co-founder of e-commerce website Become.com, Sarah Paiji, co-founder of review web Snapette and Lee were honored for their contributions to the U.S. and the global community.

Korean American Day falls on Jan. 13. On this day, in 1903, 102 Korean immigrants traveled to Honolulu, Hawaii, becoming the first Korean immigrants to set foot on American soil.

“Each of today’s awardees have taken risks and overcome adversity. Each has demonstrated tremendous business acumen in generating ideas and taking them to market successfully,” said keynote speaker Sean Mulvaney of the Export-Import Bank of the United States. “In short, you have modeled the way for your peers in the Korean American community.”
