Korean footballers partied after World Cup exit
It appears members of the Korean World Cup team drank and partied hard after their disappointing campaign in Brazil.
The video of the players drinking, dancing and mingling with women did not go too well in their home country where they were greeted by angry, candy-throwing fans at the airport.
The video also features a smiling Hong Myung-bo, the usually stone-faced head coach who stepped down amid public pressure on Thursday.
Cable channel YTN, which broadcasted the video, said the party took place at a club in Iguazu, the site of the Korean team’s base camp during the tournament. The party is believed to have taken place on the evening of June 27, hours after Korea tumbled out of the World Cup with a 1-0 loss to Belgium in their last group match.
“No doubt they were deserved to be hit with candy at the airport. Hong is the worst coach ever,” quipped one Internet user.
