Korean Internet TV to interview Yoo Seung-joon in live chat
Yoo Seung-joon, a K-pop star who was deported from South Korea in 2002 for a widely followed controversy involving his mandatory military service, is scheduled to appear for an interview on Korean Internet TV for the first time in 13 years, Yonhap reported.
Yoo, who has found success in China as a singer and actor, will be interviewed by Director Shin Hyun-won of Shin Hyun-won Production on May 19 in a live chat from Hong Kong.
The interview will be aired on AfreecaTV, an online broadcaster.
Yoo, a top pop act in the mid-1990s to the early 2000s, was accused of dodging his 21-month military service after he became a naturalized U.S. citizen following public announcements that he would enlist. He is banned from entering the country.
“We set up this interview because I felt we had not had a chance to hear the complete story of why and how Yoo Seung-joon did what he did at that time,” Shin said.
