November 16, 2015
Korean is the sixth most-used non-English language in the United States, according to new American Community Survey data.
In Los Angeles County, which houses the largest Korean population outside of Korea, Korean was the fourth-most used non-English language. In Orange County, it was third.
ACS revealed earlier this month in data taken from the U.S. Census Bureau from 2009 to 2013, that 1,117,343 people in the U.S. use Korean at home.
More than 37.4 million people use Spanish at home, ranking it first, followed by Chinese (2.9 million), Tagalog (1.6 million), Vietnamese (1.4 million) and French (1.3 million).
