‘Korean men can’t slide’
Korean baseball moments continue to go viral
Doosan Bears infielder Choi Joo-hwan is the latest Korean Baseball Organization (KBO) player to go viral for an awkward looking slide.
The moment occurred in the Bears’ game against the NC Dinos, Sunday. Footage posted by KBO super fan Dan Zurtz (mykbo.net) shows Choi round third base at full speed before hesitating. Then he starts back toward home plate before making a headfirst dive.
Unfortunately, he dives too early, planting his face into the dirt.
Luckily for him, the ball was thrown to third base, allowing him time to crawl to the plate.
USA Today, ESPN and other news organizations shared the video.
Before that, Lotte Giants infielder Hwang Jae-kyun had a similarly painful moment sliding into third in July, and “sliding home with bases loaded and batter swinging” video also drew more than 1.4 million views.
