Korean Pixar animator invited to Ars Electronica as artist, juror
Erick Oh, 31, a Pixar animator, has been invited to Ars Electronica 2015 in Linz, Austria, as one of its In Persona artists and as a jury member.
Oh, who saw his independent animated film “The Dam Keeper” nominated for an Oscar earlier this year, will screen his works “Heart,” “Symphony,” “Gunther,” “How to Eat Your Apple” and his latest short film, “O,” at the festival.
“O,” which runs three and a half minutes long, is the first project presented by the artist as a collaborator with South Korean K-pop agency Beasts and Natives Alike.
Music used in the short — which contemplates the concept of aging in a personal reflection by Oh — is by agency producer FRNK.
A graduate of Seoul National University in fine arts, Oh studied film at UCLA before joining Pixar Animation Studios in 2010. His efforts can be seen in “Cars 2,” “Merida and the Magical Forest,” “Monsters University” and “Inside Out.”
