Korean senior Youth Choir visits DC church after UN performance
The visiting grey Youth Choir, a gathering of Korean seniors with an average age of 65, performed in Washington, D.C., Wednesday to a crowd inside Washington Central Presbyterian Church.
Formed in 2011 through the South Korean variety show “Qualifications of Men,” the Youth Choir is directed by Kim Sang-kyung, a pastor, and is comprised of 22 men and 24 women.
Among their song choices were “My Way,” “Life Starts at 70,” “You Raise Me Up,” “Arirang” and even an idol medley.
The choir visited the United Nations earlier this month to perform in observatiion of 2015 World Elder Abuse Awareness Day.
Lee Jeom-ok, a Burke, Va., resident, came out for the performance.
“Their clear voices made me feel that they were really in the midst of a challenge,” Lee said.
