Korean spa in Staten Island robbed with hammer
Staten Island police are on the hunt for three men who robbed a spa by wielding a hammer, CBS New York reported.
The men walked into the Korean-run New Royal Spa, located at 39 Railroad Ave., around 6:20 p.m.
They allegedly threatened an employee with the hammer and took $600.
An employee, identified only as Kim, slipped out of the spa and knocked on the door of the barber shop next door to alert them of the robbery, causing the robbers to take off.
In a phone interview with The Korea Times, Kim said she was so surprised at first that she gave them the requested money without resistance.
“There were no customers at the time, just one other employee, but thankfully no one was hurt,” she said.
Police released surveillance footage of the robbers. If you have information or tips, call NYPD Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
