KOWIN headed to Korea for global gathering
Twenty-four Korean Americans of the Korean Women’s International Network will travel to Tongyeong, South Korea, later this month to participate in a meeting of global members.
The event, organized by the South Korean Ministry of Gender Equality & Family, Gyeongnam Province and the city of Tongyeong, was first held in 2001 and will be held Aug. 25 to 28 this year in commemoration of the 70th anniversary of Korean independence.
Political, economic, social, cultural and research women leaders will gather there for lectures, discussions and mentoring and networking opportunities.
Son Hye-sook, a leader of the organization’s West Coast chapters, said members came together inside the residence of the Korean Consul General by invitation for an orientation.
KOWIN’s stateside chapters include those in Los Angeles, Orange County, San Francisco, San Diego, Arizona, Utah, New Mexico and Seattle.
