LA city council candidates file petitions for March 3 election
December 3, 2014
Los Angeles City Council hopefuls, David Ryu (District 4) and Grace Yoo (District 10), will file their nominating petitions today for next year’s March 3 election.
Two Korean American Petitions require a minimum of 500 signatures from district voters in addition to a $300 filing fee, or 1,000 signatures to waive the fee.
Although both candidates have collected more than 1,000 signatures, they are now double-checking to make sure all are from district residents.
Ryu, 38, is looking to replace termed-out Councilman Tom LaBonge, while Yoo, 42, faces Council President and longtime incumbent Councilman Herb Wesson.
Ryu said the most important factor is the interest of the Korean American community in the election.
Ryu is a community advocate and Yoo the executive director of the Korean American Coalition of Los Angeles.
