LA Fashion District employs 25,000 Koreans
December 23, 2014
Los Angeles’ Fashion District, also known as the jobber market, employs about 25,000 Koreans who make up about 13.2 percent of the total fashion-related workforce in California, the Korean Apparel Manufacturers Association said Monday.
According to the association, Koreans own and operate about 1,900 clothing businesses in the Fashion District.
Los Angeles has been the home of a handful of successful Korean clothing chains, most prominent among them Forever 21.
Despite a struggling economy, the number of Korean workers in downtown Los Angeles’ fashion industry has grown, said Cho Nae-chang, association president-elect.
