May 20, 2015
Forever 21 founders Chang Do-won and Chang Jin-sook saw their ranking on a list of wealthiest Angelenos rise to No. 5 this year.
L.A. Business Journal, which compiled the list, estimated the Changs’ fortune at $6.8 billion, a 23 percent increase from last year, when the couple ranked No. 7.
The clothing chain is expected to open about 50 stores in Europe over the next three years, and is reportedly also looking into the Indian market.
Patrick Soon-Shiong, a South Africa-born surgeon, was ranked No. 1 again this year with $15.3 billion.
Soon-Shiong was followed by Tesla Motors CEO Elon Musk, philanthropist Eli Broad and Dreamworks Founder David Geffen.
