Late-bloomer EXID to release first full-length album in 5 yrs
SEOUL (Yonhap) — South Korean girl group EXID will return to the K-pop scene with its first full-length album in five years, its talent agency revealed on Wednesday.
The five-member late-bloomer debuted in February 2012 and is slated to release the new album on June 1, according to Banana Culture.
The album’s title track will show “a completely different style of music” from the group’s previous hits, such as “Up & Down,” “Ah Yeah” and “Hot Pink,” the agency said.
EXID finished shooting the music video and album covers for the new album last week and is on the verge of completing the album itself.
“The members will demonstrate what they’ve achieved as musicians in the five years since their debut,” an official of Banana Culture said.
EXID debuted in 2012 with digital EP “Holla,” but have not drawn much public attention. The group hit the jackpot in 2014 with the EP “Up & Down.” Since then, EXID’s Hani, by far the most popular member of the group, enjoyed instant stardom as she appeared on a number of hit television entertainment shows.
Apart from EXID, Hani gained global recognition in January 2016 when she confirmed that she was dating K-pop star Xia Junsu, a member of JYJ and former member of TVXQ.
