Lee Hyo-ri becomes a lifestyle blogger
Over 4 million views in less than a month
By Kwon Mee-yoo
K-pop star Lee Hyo-ri has become an active lifestyle blogger, spreading the domestic bliss that has filled her life since her recent marriage to fellow musician Lee Sang-soon.
On her blog (blog.naver.com/hyori79lee), the 35-year-old celebrity seems more of a housewife than a celebrity singer, known for sexy tunes “10 Minutes,” “U-Go-Girl” and “Miss Korea.” She was a famous Twitter user with over 1 million followers, but opened a blog last month to share intimate moments of her life.
Her blog nickname is “sogildaek (소길댁),” referring to her new home in Sogil-ri, Aewol-eup, on Jeju Island. Lee’s blog drew over 3.9 million views as of Monday, less than a month after it was opened on May 29.
Her blog features various aspects of her new rural life, from her housekeeping and her pet dog Soonshim to a bicycle ride around the scenic island with her husband.
The blog is gaining popularity for food-related postings. She shares her breakfast and dinner menus and frets about difficulties preparing meals every day. Lentils immediately became the talk of the town after Lee posted a photograph showing the couple’s breakfast items on May 28. On June 11, she described her latest kitchen mishap – buying the wrong tofu for “jjigae” (Korean-style stew) and proclaimed “I admire all housewives in the world.”
Some have criticized her for making a fuss over what may look like simple married life. Lee’s blog post titled “irony” shows her reaction to such criticism.
“I am famous but I want to live a quiet life. I am living quietly but I don’t want to be forgotten. I’m simple but rich and I’m rich but nothing is really different. I confess to my ironic life.”
In the last few years, she has swapped a sexy image with a wholesome appeal, starting a vegetarian diet and adopting abandoned dogs, shown on reality programs such as “Golden 12.”
Lee tied the knot with Lee, a guitarist for rock band Roller Coaster, last September and the couple made Jeju Island their home.
