Libraries sign MoU to expand Korean collection in Queens
By the Korea Times New York staff
Queens Library and the National Library of Korea shook hands on a Memorandum of Understanding Thursday to continue bringing Korean content to the “Window on Korea” collection in Queens, New York.
The national library will provide Korea-related content, including texts and resources on history, society and culture, to Queens Library each year through 2019.
In 2007, Queens Library became the first in the U.S. to install an exclusively Korean content collection for books and digital files that included K-pop, K-dramas, and Korean films in computers, on bookshelves and on desks provided by the Korean national library.
The national library provided about 200 pieces of new content for the collection annually through 2014. The new MoU is the first since 2007.
“Our plans include providing the latest bestsellers to New York Koreans through Queens Library,” said Ryu Jung-young, a national library representative.
