Lim Chang-yong pitches second straight scoreless inning
Angels Hank Conger goes 1-for-3
By Lee Kyutae
Korean sidearmer Lim Chang-yong, trying to become a Major Leaguer well past his prime, got through another inning without giving up a run.
Lim, who will turn 38-years-old June, took the mound as a reliever on Monday against the Los Angeles Angels in Mesa, Arizona’s Cubs Park. He allowed a hit, a walk, and even threw a wild pitch, but escaped without giving up a run, as he got Hank Conger to fly out to center to end the threat.
The Angels’ catcher Conger, whose Korean name is Choi Hyun, went 1-for-3 to raise his spring batting average to 0.172 (5 for 29).
Lim has allowed two hits and two earned runs over four innings, with three strikeouts and two walks this spring, but the Cubs appear to be more interested in velocity and movement of the ball.
The Cubs won the game 4-2.
