Marvel’s ‘Avengers 2′ stars to visit S. Korea next month
SEOUL, March 23 (Yonhap) — The director and cast of the “Avengers” sequel, which was partly filmed in South Korea, will visit Seoul to promote the film next month, the movie’s local importer and distributor said Monday.
Joss Whedon, the director of “Avengers: Age of Ultron,” and its stars — Robert Downey Jr., Mark Ruffalo and Chris Evans — will fly into South Korea on April 16 after attending the film’s world premiere in Los Angeles three days earlier, Walt Disney Company Korea said.
They will attend a news conference on April 17 and an official event for movie fans the next day to promote the film ahead of its release in local theaters on April 23, the company said.
For “Iron Man” star Downey, this would be his third visit to Korea following 2008 and 2013. This also would be the third South Korean trip for Evans, who played the role of “Captain America” in the previous “Avengers” and the first for Ruffalo (the Hulk).
Evans first visited the country as a cast member of “Snowpiercer” in 2013 and for the filming of “Avengers 2″ last year.
“Avengers 2″ is an action blockbuster depicting a war between the superhero group Avengers and its villainous enemy, “Ultron,” which tries to exterminate mankind.
The movie has drawn much attention in South Korea as it was partly filmed in Seoul and its adjacent cities last April.
