Thirteen high school students in Monterey, Calif., were awarded $500 scholarships at an event held by the Korean American Community Organization of Monterey County and KAGRO International last Thursday.
About 250 attended the event, which doubled as an end-of-the-year celebration by the organization.
Among them were San Francisco Consul General Han Dong-man and Salinas Mayor Dennis Donohue.
“I thank the Korean American organizations of Monterey, which show the beautiful sides of society,” Han said. He said he hopes to see further collaboration between community organizations.
