N. Korean soldier flees to S. Korea via land border: military

SEOUL, Dec. 21 (Yonhap) — A North Korean soldier defected to South Korea through the western land border Thursday, the South’s military said.
The “low-ranking” soldier appeared in front of a guard post at around 8:04 a.m., according to the Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS).
Related authorities are looking into his intentions, a JCS official told reporters.
