New It places for parents: Korean-style kid cafe, photo studios
Korean-style kid cafes and baby photo studios have become new It places for Koreatown parents.
At Lemon Tree Cafe in Madang Plaza, parents can enjoy food and drinks while children spend time in a separate play area.
Cafe Manager Choi Sung-hoon said the Korean-style cafe catered toward kids has attracted more than Korean Americans. A diverse crowd increasingly uses the space for birthday parties, he said.
Meanwhile, a local baby photo studio — Baby U Studios, now in its second year — is seeing 95 percent of its appointment slots filled.
The studio manager attributed the service’s popularity to its system of having photos taken in Los Angeles edited by its headquarters in Korea.
“Thanks to word-of-mouth, non-Koreans and people from North California and even out-of-state are visiting us after feeling the charm of Korean-style studio photos,” he said.
