New LA Asian film festival to open November
The Big Asian Los Angeles Cinema Festival will open inside L.A. Live Regal Cinema for the first time come Nov. 8 to 9.
Live Q&As, networking opportunities and a diverse range of films, from independent movies to documentaries to shorts and features, will provide an opportunity to highlight the achievements of Asian filmmakers, said Jihye Marilyn, festival head.
‘Working as an actress, producer and screenwriter, I felt the need of a place to directly meet other filmmakers,” Marilyn said.
Selections include Elaine Chu’s “The Purgation,” SangJin Ko’s “Milkshake,” Patrick Chen’s “Love Express” and Andrew Baer and Christian Leong’s “Unmasked.”
The full line-up will be revealed Oct. 15, she said.
The festival is still accepting submissions. For more information, visit www.bigasianla.com.
