By Tae Hong
South Korean film specialties — crime thrillers, romantic fantasies, eroticas — will rule this year at the New York Korean Film Festival, which will run Nov. 6 to 11 at the Museum of the Moving Image.
The festival’s showings for its 13th year include Korean box office breakers “Assassination” and “Veteran,” as well as “Office,” “The Beauty Inside,” “Madonna,” “Wonderful Nightmare,” “Confession,” “Trap” and “The Shameless.”
The guest line-up includes actress Koh Ah-sung, directors Ryoo Seung-wan (Veteran), Shin Su-won (Madonna), Lee Do-yun (Confession), Kang Hyo-jin (Wonderful Nightmare), Oh Seung-uk (The Shameless) and Hong Won-chan (Office), and producers.
According to Korea Society and Subway Cinema, non-profit organizations overseeing the event, this year marks the first for the partnership between the museum and the festival.
