Oldest Korean American marathoner ready for Boston in 2016
December 3, 2014
By Lee Ki-wook
The oldest Korean American marathoner is headed to the Boston Marathon in 2016 after qualifying at the Philadelphia Marathon’s 42.2 kilometer race on Nov. 23.
Jung Jae-woo, 75, finished the race five minutes under the cut line of 4:25:00.
After a fall during construction work 25 years ago, Jung lost the ability to use one of his legs. He went through six years of rehabilitation before he could walk on both feet again — before long, the marathon became his life.
Jung said he hopes to show the world his own and Philadelphia’s pride in Boston in 2016.
