Olympic golfer Amy Yang replaces ailing caddie

SEOUL, July 29 (Yonhap) — South Korean Olympic golfer Amy Yang will replace her ailing caddie for the upcoming Rio de Janeiro Olympics, her agency said Friday.

SEMA Sports Marketing said Yang will be reunited with Greg Johnston in place of David Poitevint, who suffered a “serious” heart attack Monday in Indianapolis. She and Johnston combined for a Korean LPGA victory in 2011.

“She will ask the International Olympic Committee to authorize the last-minute change,” the agency said. The Olympics will start Aug. 5, and women’s golf will get under way Aug. 17.

Johnston is best known for winning four LPGA majors with Juli Inkster, and has also been on the bag for Michelle Wie, Lorena Ochoa, Lydia Ko and Lexi Thompson.
