Los Angeles Korean Parade to kick off Oct. 3

For the 42nd year, a fleet of cars, floats and marching bands will make their way down Olympic Boulevard in Koreatown, Los Angeles, for the Korean Parade.

To be held Oct. 3 at 3 p.m., the parade — a part of the Los Angeles Korean Festival, a four-day celebration that begins Oct. 1 — has appointed newly elected City Councilman David Ryu as grand marshal.

The festival’s theme for the year, “becoming one through sharing and communication,” is expected to be reflected in the event, which features taekwondo demonstrators, traditional dancers and local leaders each year.

Olympic Boulevard between Catalina and Western Avenue will be closed off to traffic.
