Park becomes first president to visit NY Korean cultural center
September 29, 2015
By The Korea Times New York staff
One of South Korean President Park Geun-hye’s stops in New York during her stateside visit for the United Nations’ 70th General Assembly included the local Korean cultural center.
Park became the first sitting South Korean president to step into Korean Cultural Service New York upon her visit Monday afternoon. The organization was founded in 1979.
About 120 Koreans and Korean Americans, waving flags, greeted the president in front of the cultural service.
Park took a tour around the center, seeing both an interactive door promoting Korean tourism and culture and a K-culture exhibit featuring Korean food, hanbok and handicrafts.
