Park Byung ho-mer No. 2!
By The Korea Times Los Angeles staff
There’s no doubt about his power. Minnesota Twin’s Korean slugger Park Byung-ho smacked his second home run of the preseason Tuesday.
Park, who racked up 105 home runs in the Korean Baseball Organization (KBO) games over past two years, started as the first baseman and the fifth hitter in the lineup in a split-squad game against the Toronto Blue Jays, and made an immediate impact. He hit 33-year-old veteran right-hander Gavin Floyd’s second pitch over the left-center wall.
He was replaced after striking out against Roberto Hernandez in the fifth inning, with the game out of hand at 8-1.
Since the three-strikeout debut last Wednesday, Park has taken much more aggressive approach, and now has homered in two straight games. He was given Monday off after hitting a grand slam on Sunday.
Park’s batting average (.231) is still nothing to write home about, but he has batted-in six runs to lead the team.
The Twins ended up losing the game 9-3 after falling behind early, but they had to be happy to see both Park and Miguel Sano homer in this game. The two are expected to be the big bats in their lineup.
