Park Chu-young marks his return by scoring the opening goal
Son Heung-min also scores in Korea’s 2-0 victory over Greece
Park Chu-young marked his return to South Korea’s national soccer team by scoring the opening goal in a 2-0 win over Greece in a World Cup warm-up match on Wednesday.
The 28-year-old Arsenal striker, currently on loan to Watford, started the game as the lone striker, and scored his first international goal in more than two years at the 18th minute mark off Son Heung-min’s fantastic pass over the top.
10 minutes into the second half, Son added an insurance goal at Karaiskakis Stadium in Greece.
The 12th-ranked Greece has yet to solve much faster Korean side in four matches. They were unlucky to hit the bar three times in the first half, but fell to 0-3-1 all-time against the No. 61 South Korea.
South Korea faces Belgium, Algeria, and Russia in the group stage at the World Cup, while Greece plays Colombia, Ivory Coast and Japan.
