Philadelphia Koreans plan memorial, walk for Sewol anniversary
April 15, 2015
The Korean American community in Philadelphia is gathering for a memorial and walking marathon in honor of the first anniversary of the Sewol sinking.
The memorial will be held inside Ambler Mennonite Church at 7 p.m. on April 16. The walk will begin at 2 p.m. April 19 at Love Park, organizers said.
The Sewol, a ferry boat, was carrying 476 passengers — including a class of high school juniors — near Jindo island when it sank, taking the lives of 304 with it.
