Pirates’ Kang Jung-ho hits 5th homer of season
Batting cleanup and playing third base for the second straight game, Kang launched a solo shot off the Braves closer Arodys Vizcaino to left field with one out in the top of the ninth at PNC Park in Pittsburgh. Kang’s home run provided the only run for the hosts as the Braves hung on to win 3-1.
This is Kang’s fifth home run of the season after getting his fourth against the Chicago Cubs on Monday.
The home run was Kang’s only hit of the game. In the first inning, Kang got on base after being hit by a pitch from the Braves starter Julio Teheran. But in his next two at-bats, the 29-year-old grounded out to third in the fourth and flied out to center field in the seventh.
Kang’s batting average went up slightly from .276 to .281 after the game. He now has 10 RBIs this season.
