‘Popera’ singer Lim Hyung-joo to receive US presidential award

SEOUL (Yonhap) — South Korean operatic pop tenor Lim Hyung-joo will receive a cultural honor from U.S. President Barack Obama, his management agency said Tuesday.
Lim was chosen as a recipient of this year’s U.S. Presidential Culture Awards in recognition of his contribution to promoting friendly ties between South Korea and the United States by participating in a series of concerts to mark common anniversaries of the two nations, DGNcom said.
