Proud Son: South Korean adds 2 more goals and an assist
By The Korea Times Los Angeles staff
South Korean soccer player Son Heung-min exploded for two goals and an assist for Bayer Leverkusen in a 3-3 draw during its Saturday Bundesliga match against VfB Stuttgart.
The 22-year-old striker scored his first of two in the fourth minute after maneuvering around Stuttgart defender Georg Niedermeier.
His second came just five minutes later as he gained possession after a bad clearance by Stuttgart goalkeeper Thorsten Kirschbaum. Son took the opportunity to launch a shot from 30 yards past an out-of-position Kirschbaum.
The two goals accounted for his seventh and eighth goals this season.
He almost scored his third under 12 minutes but a delicate lob over the head of the goalkeeper hit the crossbar and prevented the hat trick.
After helping build up a 3-0 lead, the Leverkusen defense gave up 3 goals in the second half.
