Psy close to finishing new song after hiatus
SEOUL, July 28 (Yonhap) — South Korean rapper Psy is putting the final touches on a song to be released in the near future, his agency said Tuesday.
The “Gangnam Style” singer was hard at work finishing the new track although no release date has been fixed, YG Entertainment said.
The 38-year-old admittedly set the bar high with his 2012 single “Gangnam Style,” which racked up more than 2 billion views on YouTube as of Tuesday.
In 2013, he announced two follow-ups — “Gentleman,” which had a music video that ironically portrays him as anything but, and “Hangover,” a team-up with Snoop Dogg — before taking a hiatus. Both reaped mediocre results compared to “Gangnam Style.”
Psy also scrapped his new song “Daddy,” which had been scheduled to come out last August, at the last minute, apparently having second thoughts.
But the rapper has rediscovered himself since and is ready to be himself again, YG Entertainment said, adding he is expected to promote the upcoming song in South Korea first in line with this new philosophy.
