Psy to release new song on ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live’
‘Gangnam Style’ Reaches Record 2 Billion YouTube Views
Psy of “Gangnam Style” fame will return to the music world in June by releasing his latest work titled “Hangover” on a popular U.S. TV talk show, his agency said Saturday.
Psy, along with the American hip-hop star Snoop Dogg, is scheduled to appear on ABC’s “Jimmy Kimmel Live: Game Night” on June 8, and to unveil the music video of his new hip-hop song, according to YG Entertainment.
The song will then be available via i-Tunes around the world at 1 p.m. on June 9 (Seoul time), it added.
“This summer, Psy is also planning to release his new title track of the latest album,” a YG official noted, without elaborating further.
The superstar who rose to stardom with his global mega-hit “Gangnam Style” has been working on new songs since last year. He had not appeared on media since the release of “Gentleman” in April 2013.
Snoop Dogg participated in the production of Psy’s latest song and the filming of its music video.
“The new song ‘Hangover’ is different in genre from ‘Gangnam Style’ and ‘Gentleman.’ But it will be a Psy-like song and will allow him to show off his novel charm,” the official added.
“Gangnam Style,” meanwhile, set a record by topping 2 billion views on YouTube on Saturday.
As of 12:30 p.m. KST, the video had a total of 2.02 billion views since its release on July 15, 2012.
“It is really a thrilling and burdensome number,” Psy was quoted by his agency as saying. “Keeping this honor in mind, I will come back with far more exciting content.”
