Red Tigers amped up for World Cup
Viewing parties to be held at Tom’s Urban inside L.A. Live.
As the 2014 Brazil World Cup approaches, 1.5- and second-generation Korean American soccer fans, the “Red Tigers,” are also gearing up to support the Korean national team.
The Red Tigers announced Monday through its Facebook page that it would hold viewing parties at Tom’s Urban inside L.A. Live.
Korea’s first match is on June 17 against Russia, followed by the game against Algeria on June 22 and against Belgium on June 26.
Started by Kollaboration’s Paul Kim and Jerry Won, the Red Tigers gathered about 800 supporters through Facebook and Twitter during the 2010 South Africa World Cup.
“If you were a part of the crowd four years ago, then you remember the passion of the Red Tigers,” Won said. “We’re going to shout ‘Dae~hanminguk’ until downtown L.A. shakes to support the Korean team in entering the final 16 and final 8.”
Viewing parties are free of charge and will also feature traditional Korean drums and gongs by UCLA’s Hanoolim team.
