Defeats Padres 2-1 to register his 9th win of the season
Los Angeles Dodgers’ Korean pitcher Ryu Hyun-jin defeated the Major League’s weakest hitting team to take his ninth win of the season.
Ryu (9-3) held the San Diego Padres hitless through the first three innings and scoreless for five innings in San Diego, before being replaced after the sixth inning. He only recorded two strikeouts, but the Padres could still only manage to score one run on four hits and one walk.
Ryu’s ERA improved to 3.06.
The Dodgers (42-35) only scored two runs, but that was enough to beat the Padres 2-1.
The Padres (32-44), ranked last in virtually every offensive categories in Majors this year, announced firing of their general manager Josh Byrnes before the game.
