Ryu So-yeon surges to front at LPGA Malaysia event

Ryu So-yeon shot a 6-under 65 that resulted in a two stroke lead at the Sime Darby LPGA Malaysia event held at Kuala Lumpur Golf and Country Club.
First round leader Stacy Lewis dropped to tied-for-11th after an even-par 71, while South Korean golfer Ji Eun-hee shot a 5-under 67 to tie for second.
Korean-born New Zealander Lydia Ko and England’s Jodi Sewart Shadoff both shot a 7-under 64 to tie for second and Japan’s Ayako Uehara shot the tournament’s lowest score at 8-under 63 to tie for second.
After the first round in which seven South Korean players populated the top-6 spots, the seven golfers stayed in the mix while still positioning themselves in the top-11 heading into the weekend..
