Ryu taking it slow, throwing every other day
The Los Angeles Dodgers are easing Ryu Hyun-jin back into form by continuing a throwing program that includes the South Korean throwing from 60-feet every other day.
Ryu hasn’t taken the mound in any official capacity since March 17 and has been nursing a left shoulder inflammation. There’s no structural damage according to MRI tests, but this is the third time the issue has flared up since last season.
Manager Don Mattingly has yet to give a timeline on his return.
“Nobody has really given me a date. The progress to this point has been pretty tame. It’s been every other day, and about 60 feet or so,” Mattingly told SB Nation on Monday. “I know that’s going to be more aggressive going forward, and we’ll just react how that program’s going as he starts doing more.”
The Dodgers will use David Huff as their starting pitcher Tuesday night in a game against the Seattle Mariners.
