Pitches six strong innings
at Colorado to extend his
unbeaten road record to 5-0

The Los Angeles Dodgers’ Korean pitcher Ryu Hyun-jin earned his seventh win of the season on the road against the Colorado Rockies on Friday, keeping the National League’s highest-scoring offense at bay.

Ryu improved to 7-2 this year after giving up two runs over six innings on eight hits at Coors Field, a notorious hitter-friendly park in Mile High City. Ryu struck out two and walked two, as his ERA went down ever so slightly from 3.09 to 3.08.

Ryu also extended his perfect road record this season to 5-0.

Dee Gordon tripled twice to drive in three runs as the Dodgers beat the Rockies 7-2. The Dodgers came into the game having lost six of eight, but found little resistance against the struggling Rockies, who have lost eight straight.

The Dodgers attacked Rockies’ rookie starter Eddie Butler early and often, with Gordon ripping a leadoff triple into right field and scoring on a grounder from Hanley Ramirez.

The Dodgers made it 2-0 on a RBI double by Drew Butera in the top of the second and ripped open the game in the fifth. Ryu led off with a double and scored on another triple by Gordon. Ramirez followed with a single to make it 4-0.

Gordon made it 6-0 in the sixth with a two-run single off Butler.

Ryu cruised against the Rockies for the first five innings before experiencing trouble in the sixth. Drew Stubbs hit a solo homer off Ryu with one out. Michael McKenry doubled and Charlie Culberson followed with a triple to make it 6-2.

Ryu got pinch-hitter Brandon Barnes to fly out to end the inning.
