S. Korea to sell $6.83 billion in state bonds in May
SEJONG, April 29 (Yonhap) — South Korea plans to sell state bonds worth 7.3 trillion won (US$6.83 billion) in May, the finance ministry said Wednesday.
According to the ministry, the government will sell 1.9 trillion won (US$1.78 billion) in three-year Treasury notes, 1.85 trillion won (US$1.73 billion) in five-year debts and 1.95 trillion won (US$1.83 billion) worth of 10-year bonds next month.
It also plans to issue 750 billion won (US$703 million) worth of 20-year bonds and 850 billion won (US$796.8 million) in 30-year bonds.
The ministry said it sold 8.56 trillion won (US$8.02 billion) worth of bonds in April, with 253 billion won (US$237.1 million) being so-called Treasury inflation-protected securities.
The April figure is significantly larger than the original sales goal of 7.45 trillion won (US$6.98 billion) announced in late March.
