S. Korea up 2 spots to 55th in Sept. FIFA rankings
SEOUL, Sept. 20 (Yonhap) — South Korea moved up two spots to take 55th place in the latest FIFA rankings released on Thursday.
According to the September rankings unveiled by FIFA, South Korea were 55th with 1,395 points. With new head coach Paulo Bento taking the helm, the Taeguk Warriors beat Costa Rica 2-0 and had a scoreless draw with Chile in September friendlies.
South Korea had the fourth-highest ranking among Asian Football Confederation (AFC) members. Iran remained the top Asian football nation at 33rd, followed by Australia at 43rd and Japan at 54th.
The 2018 FIFA World Cup champions France shared the top place with Belgium, followed by Brazil, Croatia and Uruguay.
South Korea are scheduled to face Uruguay and Panama in friendly matches next month.
