S. Korean golfer wins 2nd straight top player honors on Japan tour
November 30, 2016
SEOUL, Nov. 27 (Yonhap) — South Korean golfer Lee Bo-mi on Sunday clinched her second consecutive Player of the Year honors on the LPGA of Japan Tour.
Lee finished well out of contention at the season-ending Japan LPGA Tour Championship Ricoh Cup, but still won the points race for the tour’s top player honors.
Lee is the first to earn two straight Player of the Year awards since the Japanese tour inaugurated the points system in 2012.
Lee also led the tour in money and scoring average for the second straight season.
Fellow South Korean Kim Ha-neul won the Ricoh Cup at nine-under 279, one better than Misuzu Narita of Japan. South Koreans combined to win 17 of 38 Japanese tour events in 2016.
