SEOUL (Yonhap) — South Korea’s traditional music orchestra will hold a concert at the United Nations building this week to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the establishment of the international organization, the organizer said Wednesday.

The concert by the KBS Traditional Music Orchestra will take place at the UN General Assembly Hall on Friday “to send a message of peace and harmony, and to contribute to the diffusion of the Korean culture,” the country’s public broadcaster KBS said in a release.

Conducted by Lee Jun-ho, the concert will feature the world-renowned Chinese pianist Lang Lang and South Korean classical musician Song So-hee, according to KBS, adding the event will also bring a handful of young traditional artists from Korea, as well as the pop-ballad duo Davichi.

It will be the first of its kind in 13 years, with the orchestra last staging a concert at the U.N. hall in 2002.

On Saturday, the ensemble will hold a concert at the New York Carnegie Hall for Korean people residing in New York and those who harbor interests in the Korean culture, according to KBS.
